Meal Plan in the Making

When you begin a new routine, creating a meal plan and prepping your food sets you up for major success.
No matter what food guide your following, meal planning and prepping will save you time and money in the long run. You'll only eat what you've cooked and taken with you. And you'll only buy what's on the plan; this way, you will avoid throwing out so much food by the end of the week.
Where do you begin??

Well, I like to start with dinner. I like to make sure I have a serving of protein, veggie and carb left for dinner- followed by a serving if fruit if I want dessert.
This also helps guide me when I go out to eat, because I know if I stick to those basic food groups, using portion control, I'll stay on track.

Next, I'll look to see what food is already in the house that I can add in each day  before it goes bad. I like to spread out my carbs throughout the day and have a serving of fruit in the afternoon to satisfy my daily sweet tooth.
Your cravings may be totally different than mine, so just go with whatever is going to help your succeed and stay on your plan. If you crave sweet first thing in the more, have your shakeology then. Or if you crave salth, then whip up some eggs and salsa.

There are many ways to track your food. You've got your calories, tracking your macros, portions using the 21 Day Fix. The main thing to remember is to keep your diet as clean as possible. If you eat natural foods that your body knows how to break down, you'll see better results.
And drink tons of water!!  At least half your body weight in ounces and more if you can. When your body knows you're going to hydrate it properly, it holds on to less water weight because it's confident.
When you deprive yourself of water, the body holds tight to that water weight because it never knows when it will have more.

Here's a meal plan that I made my 21 Day Fix challengers. It's color coded to fit the eating guide in the program.
This is for the 1500-1700 calorie range. You can make adjustments if you are in a different range.

So what do you think? Would you give meal planning and prepping a try??

Happy 3rd Blog-aversary!!

It's been three (3) years to the day since I began blogging.  I've taken a LONG break lately as I have had many transitions in my life.  But in the past few weeks, I've been considering sharing more about the next stage of this journey called life with you all. In three short years, I have gone from motivating others to experiencing weight gain and depression.  Being delivered from said depression and fighting to lose the weight.  I'd say sometimes in life, motivation shows up in the difficult times and then sometimes it's no where to be found-- a bit of a roller coaster really. And about a year ago, I was tired.  Tired of not getting enough sleep, tired of the structure and I needed a break.  This break cost me about 20 lbs and goodness has it been tough to get my mind right again.  But I'm experiencing life!!  Enjoying the moment!  And making memories with my family and friends that have been so good for my soul. And in this season, ...

21 Day Fix Approved French Toast Pancakes

This week begins tax school. Which means twice a week, I will be teaching a bilingual tax course to prepare for next tax season. I really enjoy it, but it can be tricky trying to eat healthy during this time. I remember last year Taco Bell and Hardee's were my "go-to" dinner choices. Fast forward to this year and I'll be having my shakeology for dinner each evening that I teach. It's easy, quick and keeps me full throughout the class.  So because of this, I am not having my usual shakeology for breakfast.  This morning, I wanted something other than eggs so I looked for a fix approved pancake.  Now I've made the low carb pancakes that are only made with banana and egg and they were YUCK! (Just being honest) I was hestitant with these but I hand everything at the house already so there was nothing to loose if they didn't taste good.  They have the consistency of French toast with the look and feel of pancakes. I was full until lunch time. Getting 2 reds in ...

The Summit...Would You Start Over?

So as most of you know, I went to Nashville last month for Beachbody's national convention called Summit.  It is the most amazing event where people who's purpose is to help others get together, share wonderful ideas/trainings and completely refill your cup before you go back home. This year one of the speakers was talking about completing a workout program in it's entirety when we returned home.  And they were telling us not to start over if we hit some bumps in the road.  Now, I for one, am a habitual "starter over" so I probably turned a little red (those who know me know how a can get flushed in a split second).  In a room of about 14k people, I was feeling like they were talking right to me. But then the best example was given...when you begin a hike/climb up a mountain, if you didn't like how fast you went or your progress in the first few hours, would you start over??? Um...NO way!!  That seems like a no-brainer.  There's no way that you would ...
