The Fit Blanquita's 1st Annual Turkey Day 5K

Yay!! I'm so excited to announce something that's been brewing for the past couple of weeks. I will be hosting a virtual Turkey Day 5K on Thanksgiving Day!! So grab your family and loved ones on Thursday and get MOVING!!  I will probably start my day with this because I KNOW that after I eat, I won't "feel" like it! If you're like that too, then have a "no excuses" plan to get it done in the morning! The benefits of exercising on Turkey Day will not only make you less likely to gain weight, it will also make you feel GOOD!  Accomplished!  And you may even consider changing your habits on a day where so many throw caution to the wind.  Track your 5K with the Nike app or some other distance app and then take a #finishlineselfie.  I CANNOT WAIT FOR THURSDAY!! Who's with me???!!!!

Some Days...

Some days you won't feel like it! Some days you'll want to throw in the towel.  Some days you will eat whatever you want.  Some days you will get frustrated because this journey is hard.  Some days you will feel defeated.  Some days you will cry.  Some days you will feel inadequate.  Some days you won't feel ready.  Some days you will be scared.  Some days you will be tired.  Some days you will compare yourself to others.  Some days you may get jealous.  Some days you'll let that comparison steal your joy.  Some days you'll want to stay in your comfort zone.  Some days you'll loose your momentum.  Some days will be just those- SOME DAYS! But EVERYDAY, you need to tell yourself you are strong! You are courageous! You are doing things that others don't do so you can live like others won't live! You will grow outside of your comfort zone! You will reflect on how far you've come!  No one can take that away from you! You will use that towel to wipe off th

She Ate What??

Paleo, clean eating, raw vegan, grass-fed, no hormones, etc. : We all see the up and coming new philosophies of eating healthy and along with that, you'll see some pretty crazy combinations too.  Today was perusing Pinterest (the death trap of the mind and time), I saw "Chia Pudding?!" What??  I haven't had pudding in FOREVER and now it's a "healthy" thing?! I remembered my boss had mentioned something to me about it a few weeks ago, so I figured I'd check out the recipe and see just how crazy it was.  Well call ME CRAZY because I had all of the ingredients on hand. I mixed it up and a couple hours later, I tried it. It was REALLY GOOD! It will definitely be added to my clean treats!! Here's the recipe:: Chocolate Peanut Butter Chia Pudding 3/4 cup Almond/Coconut milk (you can use your milk of choice here) 3-4 tbsp of chia seeds (I recommend 3 until you decide that you want it thicker) 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tbsp PB2 (if using natural nut butter

When The Scale Goes Up...

Yep, it happened!!  The scale went up on me over the weekend (totally the scales fault, right?!). I gained a lb back from the four that I lost last week in my 3 day quick fix attempt.  So what do I do now? Now I know what you may be thinking; "a pound? Really Nicole, a pound? Who cares!" But it's  just one pound here and there that can grow to be a 10 lb weight gain in just three months. I don't want to go back there and, as you all now know, I have really big goals for next year.  I want/ need to stay on track so that I can accomplish those goals in the future.  So here's my plan: I am starting a 21 Day Fix (because it's awesome!) and PiYo hybrid program (because it's awesome too, on sale, and everybody's doing it, ha!).  I missed yesterday because a sick little one who, every time I tried to get out of bed, woke up from a deep sleep and asked, "what are you doing mommy?" Or "where are you going?" A nap time workout didn't pan

Update: 3 Day Quick Fix Bust

So here goes it! I wish I could be writing this saying that I stayed with it all three days and that I felt great and accomplished!  Whomp Whomp!!  I can't.  Day 1 went perfect!  I stuck with the plan, are everything, and drank all the coconut oil I was supposed to. Day 2 was harder. I brought all my food to work and made it through meal 2 ok, but then came meal 3 and my stomach turned on me!  I only are half of it (ground turkey and veggies- not my favorite), but thought "I liked the fish yesterday so I'll do fine with that one!" Wrong!  My stomach had made up it's mind: too much meat! I tried to eat the fish but could not finish even half of that. I brought no other food with me and by the time I went to pick the boys up even my coach asked me if I was ok. Clearly the hunger and feeling of defeat was written all over me.  The reason WHY I want to accomplish this HUGE goal is because I always quit on myself. Have I still accomplished goals, absolutely; however, I

What Do I Cook Tonight?

That is the almighty question in my house!  Normally we eat with family and friends, but a few nights a week we are home and having to figure out what to eat.  It's torture!!  To avoid ending up ordering a pizza or take out, I have started a list of quick simple meals that we can make to satisfy our cravings while still staying on track. First up::  Chicken and Rice Soup --I made this the over the weekend and had requests for the recipe, so here it goes :) Ingredients: -Rotisserie Chicken (cooked) -Long Grain Rice (Brown would be best) -3-5 Carrots -3-5 stalks of celery -1 box organic chicken stock (I used broth but I like stock flavor better) First I like to saute the chopped celery and carrots in the pot with about a tbsp of olive oil first.  Season with your favorite spices; I used garlic powder and Mrs. Dash's Salt-free Italian blend. Then I will add the rice to toast it for a minute or so (I know, so accurate!). Then I'll put in the chicken stock.  While the

Creating Momentum: Day 1 of the 3 Day Quick Fix

So here goes nothing. Yesterday I prepped everything that I'll be eating for the next three days!  It was exciting. And nerve-wrecking all at the same time. I didn't like that I indulged yesterday more than normal just because I knew I would have those things for THREE DAYS!  Really Nicole, come on!!  I know I still have a LOT of mental work to do to help me get to where I want to be. That's why I'm trying out the three day quick fix to see how my body reacts to it and how I mentally handle being on a restrictive diet. During a competition prep, there can be cheat meals and other foods added in to your regime;  however for the 3 Day Quick Fix, protein and veggies rule.  I will be making one modification to the plan because I can't go three days without Shakeology. It's my nutritional supplement and "pick-me-up everyday!" Because it is considered a "red," during meal two I will be drinking my shake in place of the other protein listed along wi
