A Time for Discipline

I'm sure many of you have heard the verses in Ecclesiastes that states there's a time for everything under the sun. All of us are experiencing something whether it be good or bad.

My experience isn't "that" serious today but it is shaping my future. Friday, I finished Month 1 of Insanity Max:30. This program is no doubt my favorite program that Beachbody and Shaun T has developed. The 21 Day Fix Extreme may give it a run for it's money when it comes out next month but, right now, I'm a Max:30 addict.

Y'all have seen my posts of my workouts all throughout this past month; I only missed 3 workouts in Month 1. I've never stuck with one program this long, not to mention looking forward to it everyday.

So how were my results month 1?  Not great! Like, so not great that I didn't even want to post about it!! (Yep!)
I lost 1/2 lb and 2 1/2 inches. I am happy about those inches because I lost a full inch off my waist and was able to wiggle into a size 8!!!!
Y'all, that hasn't happened since MIDDLE SCHOOL!! (It's NEVER too late to change your health and body!!).
I know EXACTLY why the results weren't there. It wasn't because I wasn't working hard, it wasn't because Max:30 didn't have the tools, it wasn't because I couldn't do it!
It was because I let myself go on the "see-food" diet!!  For real!  I ate donuts, cookies, pie, pasta, cinnamon rolls and pretty much anything else I wanted. It takes intention and discipline to stay on track.
Some may say, "Nicole, who cares, you have lost a lot of weight, you look fine." But for me. I have goals for 2015!!  Lofty goals at that and I've got to be disciplined if I'm going to accomplish any of them!!
So my goal for Month 2 is to actually use and follow the eating guide that is included in this program. It's easy and effective!  I just have to resist the "see-food" diet at all costs!!!!

And here goes the progress pics that I soo wish I could put a filter on (ha!). But honesty is the best for both me and you.
The abs are really trying the chisel their way out of there!  My goal for Month 2 is to have the discipline in my diet (as in what I eat), to let them make their debut!!

HERE'S TO A TIME FOR DISCIPLINE!!

She Ate What??

Paleo, clean eating, raw vegan, grass-fed, no hormones, etc. : We all see the up and coming new philosophies of eating healthy and along with that, you'll see some pretty crazy combinations too.  Today was perusing Pinterest (the death trap of the mind and time), I saw "Chia Pudding?!" What??  I haven't had pudding in FOREVER and now it's a "healthy" thing?! I remembered my boss had mentioned something to me about it a few weeks ago, so I figured I'd check out the recipe and see just how crazy it was.  Well call ME CRAZY because I had all of the ingredients on hand. I mixed it up and a couple hours later, I tried it. It was REALLY GOOD! It will definitely be added to my clean treats!! Here's the recipe:: Chocolate Peanut Butter Chia Pudding 3/4 cup Almond/Coconut milk (you can use your milk of choice here) 3-4 tbsp of chia seeds (I recommend 3 until you decide that you want it thicker) 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tbsp PB2 (if using natural nut butter...

Happy 3rd Blog-aversary!!

It's been three (3) years to the day since I began blogging.  I've taken a LONG break lately as I have had many transitions in my life.  But in the past few weeks, I've been considering sharing more about the next stage of this journey called life with you all. In three short years, I have gone from motivating others to experiencing weight gain and depression.  Being delivered from said depression and fighting to lose the weight.  I'd say sometimes in life, motivation shows up in the difficult times and then sometimes it's no where to be found-- a bit of a roller coaster really. And about a year ago, I was tired.  Tired of not getting enough sleep, tired of the structure and I needed a break.  This break cost me about 20 lbs and goodness has it been tough to get my mind right again.  But I'm experiencing life!!  Enjoying the moment!  And making memories with my family and friends that have been so good for my soul. And in this season, ...

Monday MOMENTUM:: Where should you start??

One of the biggest questions that people have when wanting to get healthy, loose weight or change their lifestyle is normally:: where do I start?? Some like to go cold turkey with a lifestyle change. And sometimes people can keep this up while others will fall back into the same old habits with little chance of recovering.  One thing that I have tried to stick with this year that has been different than my weightloss journey in the past is making small changes. Small changes will add up and before you know it, your lifestyle will be rapidly changing.  This year, it was when I really felt GOOD inside, that I wanted to consistently change my lifestyle. In the beginning, it really is like a detox!!  Think about how much processed food(like) junk you are consuming!!!  You wouldn't put maple syrup in a car and expect it to work like gasoline?!!!  It's  the same thing with our bodies. They weren't/aren't made to be given tons of chemicals that look like food....
