Monday MOMENTUM:: Where should you start??

One of the biggest questions that people have when wanting to get healthy, loose weight or change their lifestyle is normally:: where do I start?? Some like to go cold turkey with a lifestyle change. And sometimes people can keep this up while others will fall back into the same old habits with little chance of recovering.  One thing that I have tried to stick with this year that has been different than my weightloss journey in the past is making small changes. Small changes will add up and before you know it, your lifestyle will be rapidly changing.  This year, it was when I really felt GOOD inside, that I wanted to consistently change my lifestyle. In the beginning, it really is like a detox!!  Think about how much processed food(like) junk you are consuming!!!  You wouldn't put maple syrup in a car and expect it to work like gasoline?!!!  It's  the same thing with our bodies. They weren't/aren't made to be given tons of chemicals that look like food.  Here are some o

Monday MOMENTUM:: Life Lesson

Monday momentum is here already! I'm writing this week's post at above 10,000 feet. Technology is simply amazing!! What a week is was. We experienced heartbreak with family loosing their loved 18 year old to cancer and had an unexpected trip out of town.  We headed to Texas to spend some time with my husband's family.  Today, for momentum I'm going to focus on one thing that I knew but took for granted. I   learned this week that "you need family!" Now, it may not be the family that you were born into but having people around you that you can experience life with is important.  In a weightloss journey, they can keep you accountable (I have emotional ate on more than one occasion this past week). Encourage you to keep going when you want to give up. And celebrate in your victories by telling you how proud they are of you.  In sorrow, they are your support and strength (my husband and I were able to experience this first hand this past week). There to pray with

Monday Momentum:: Why am I doing this?

Momentum: strength or force gained by motion or by a series of events At first I just wanted to loose the extra weight that I was carrying from having a baby.  Now: It's about being healthy- About feeling good- About being the best wife and mom I can be- About loving who I am- About teaching my boys that natural food is good food- And that treats are good too 😉 About helping others become healthy- Helping them gain control of their lives- Helping them feel good in their own skin- Not comparing themselves to others- Living life to the fullest- Realizing our blessings- Setting goals- Working towards dreams- Turning them into reality- Helping others do the same!! Because life is about more than looking good in a bikini!! Sure that can make you smile BUT 👆 if you don't do the other things, you can still be unhappy.  Life is about making meaningful relationships. Taking advantage of those opportunities that can truly change your life. Taking nothing for granted.  So here today, I

Meatless Monday Lunch Recipe:: Mediterranean Quinoa Bake

So here is the lunch that I posted about earlier today.  It was sooo good!! Mediterranean Quinoa Bake 1 cup uncooked quinoa (prepare as directed) 1 cup chopped spinach 1 cup tomato 1 cup artichoke hearts 4 kalamata olives chopped 1/2-1 cup feta cheese 1/2 cup skim milk 1/2 cup mozzarella Salt, Lemon pepper (or pepper and fresh lemon juice), and onion powder Cook 1 cup of Quinoa while you chop up the spinach, artichokes, olives and tomatoes.  After you have chopped these ingredients up and the quinoa is hot and ready, combine the quinoa and everything you have chopped with about a tbsp of the oil from the container of artichokes.  Then in a food processor or a blender, mix 1/2 cup-1 cup of feta cheese, salt, lemon pepper, onion powder and either 1/2 cup of almond or skim milk.  Blend this up. Pour Quinoa and veggie mixture in a casserole dish and pour feta sauce all over.  Top with 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese.  Bake at 400 for 15 minutes or until cheese begins to brown.

Monday Madness:: STATurday and Weekend Recap

Welcome to my blog!!  If you are reading this, then you are allowing me to share my journey with you.  Thanks! I am excited to begin sharing my journey more in depth than I can with facebook and instagram. So first things first:: the weigh-in!  With Shaun T's T25 fitness program, he schedules weigh-in's on Saturday (hence the name, STATurday).  I worked hard this week.  It was my first week of insanity and I completed 5 of the 6 workouts that I needed to.  Eating was on target most days but I think that is where many of us will always struggle (mmmm...PIZZA).  So Saturday I stepped on that scale and saw a small victory: a loss of 1 lbs and 3 inches. I try and workout in the morning so that I don't want to ruin those calories burned, so more than likely I will eat better when I am on a normal workout routine.  If not the opposite occurs and it is a vicious cycle of being tired, worn down (from eating crap food) and definitely don't feel like working up a sweat.
