Powered By Performance:: My Review of the New Beachbody Supplements

At Summit, the release of the all-new performance products took place and you better believe that I snagged a sampler pack.  I wanted to try it ALL!!  The sampler pack comes with one serving of all of the new performance products.  It's a great way to see if you like the taste and how they make you feel.  Since I am a diehard E & E fan, I wanted to put the new Energize to the test.

So last Saturday, I had a nine mile run scheduled with our group that's training for the Rock-N-Roll Half Marathon over labor day weekend.  What better way to try out the products.  I got up early (like 4:30 early) on Saturday and down went the Energize.  Now at Summit, my coach tried it and felt tingling (as it helps circulation before working out).  I'm not much for tingling, so I was skeptical (keeping it real here).  I did feel a "fresh" feeling but without a lot of tingling, so that worked for me.

While the Energize was kicking in, I filled up my water belt (which has 3 bottles).  I filled one with water and the other two with Hydrate, the new during workout beverage.  I try not to drink any water until I'm halfway and then about every mile I drink a little.  It's a mind game, totally, but it helps me get through it all.  I tried the Hydrate before my water and I was pleasantly surprised!!  The LAST thing I wanted was for it not to taste good when out on the trail.  It was DELISH!!!!  A light lemon citrus flavor and it wasn't salty like some sports drinks.
-SIDENOTE::  All the new Performance Line products are naturally flavored and sweetened and they are also NSF certified- which means that they can be used in professional sports (one day....one day I'll need them for that lol!)
I kept drinking the Hydrate until it was gone and then on to the water. whomp whomp haha!

Once I got home, I decided to keep on going with the next step and drink the post workout Recover shake.  It's a lightly sweet chocolate post workout protein shake that allows for quicker muscle recovery.  I soaked in a hot bath and drank my cold shake.  The perfect combo.

On Sunday, we took a day trip to see my great grandmother for her 90th birthday celebration.  It was so much fun but a little over four hours in the car did me in.  I was stiff and sore by the time we got home, so I decided that I would try the Recharge shake.  This drink is a lightly sweetened vanilla shake designed to drink just before bedtime to aid in muscle recover overnight when your body can absorb most nutrient easily while you are resting.
I woke up feeling so much better!!  My toes and feet still ached a little from being on my feet so much the past two days, but my muscles felt amazing!!

The only product that I have yet to try out is the Creatine.  This can be mixed with a juice or your post workout protein of choice because it doesn't have flavor.

So the verdict::  I'm a FAN!  I think that each of these products are valuable to your specific fitness needs.  Whether it's to ease soreness or to aid in muscle growth, the new Performance line can fit into your fitness regime.

Happy 3rd Blog-aversary!!

It's been three (3) years to the day since I began blogging.  I've taken a LONG break lately as I have had many transitions in my life.  But in the past few weeks, I've been considering sharing more about the next stage of this journey called life with you all. In three short years, I have gone from motivating others to experiencing weight gain and depression.  Being delivered from said depression and fighting to lose the weight.  I'd say sometimes in life, motivation shows up in the difficult times and then sometimes it's no where to be found-- a bit of a roller coaster really. And about a year ago, I was tired.  Tired of not getting enough sleep, tired of the structure and I needed a break.  This break cost me about 20 lbs and goodness has it been tough to get my mind right again.  But I'm experiencing life!!  Enjoying the moment!  And making memories with my family and friends that have been so good for my soul. And in this season, ...

21 Day Fix Approved French Toast Pancakes

This week begins tax school. Which means twice a week, I will be teaching a bilingual tax course to prepare for next tax season. I really enjoy it, but it can be tricky trying to eat healthy during this time. I remember last year Taco Bell and Hardee's were my "go-to" dinner choices. Fast forward to this year and I'll be having my shakeology for dinner each evening that I teach. It's easy, quick and keeps me full throughout the class.  So because of this, I am not having my usual shakeology for breakfast.  This morning, I wanted something other than eggs so I looked for a fix approved pancake.  Now I've made the low carb pancakes that are only made with banana and egg and they were YUCK! (Just being honest) I was hestitant with these but I hand everything at the house already so there was nothing to loose if they didn't taste good.  They have the consistency of French toast with the look and feel of pancakes. I was full until lunch time. Getting 2 reds in ...

The Summit...Would You Start Over?

So as most of you know, I went to Nashville last month for Beachbody's national convention called Summit.  It is the most amazing event where people who's purpose is to help others get together, share wonderful ideas/trainings and completely refill your cup before you go back home. This year one of the speakers was talking about completing a workout program in it's entirety when we returned home.  And they were telling us not to start over if we hit some bumps in the road.  Now, I for one, am a habitual "starter over" so I probably turned a little red (those who know me know how a can get flushed in a split second).  In a room of about 14k people, I was feeling like they were talking right to me. But then the best example was given...when you begin a hike/climb up a mountain, if you didn't like how fast you went or your progress in the first few hours, would you start over??? Um...NO way!!  That seems like a no-brainer.  There's no way that you would ...
