A Time to Get Serious!

Ive been mentioning that things were about to get serious with my meal plan but I wasn't sure exactly when to start. I have a couple of competition dates in mind, but the whole thing really scares the living daylights out of me!  So I've been nervous to start (obviously)!  But I just had to go for it. For the last three days I have been strong!  I'm not sure that I've ever stayed on a plan so strict for this long. I'm already seeing results too! That's motivating; however, I've also has to pass up lasagna, cheese sauce, cookies, cereal, cinnamon buns- just to name a few things. The key for me is going to be prepping my meals!   So here's what I've been eating for the last three days! It's easy, and has enough variety throughout the day that I don't mind repeating it.  Breakfast: Eggs and Oats!! ~2 eggs  ~1/2 cup rolled oats ~1/2 cup blueberries I put the eggs on a non-stick skillet and let them go until they are well done. Then I combine oats

A Week of Rest

Last Monday, I woke up not feeling well and didn't want to speed up the process of getting sick by pushing myself too much physically. Same went for Tuesday. Then I got to thinking, my body hasn't rested for a full week in at least six months. I figured this would help if I was getting sick and keep me from becoming exhausted during a very busy week at work. While I don't regret taking a week off, there are some things I've learned from last week.  1. Routines Keep Me Focused!! I slept in every day. And when I say "slept in" it may have only been until 6:30 but that's an hour and a half more than my normal routine. So then, I had to get up, get ready and GO. There was no time for focus or vision in my morning. There was no quiet to get my day going or any E&E to give me that extra kick in the morning.  2. Clean Eating: What's That? No focus, combined with no food prep and a monthly visitor that makes me want to eat for four people made my food choi

Moving on from Maintenance

For the last three months, I like to say that I have mastered the game of maintenance.  I eat about 70% clean and then enjoy whatever I want the rest of the time.  Sometimes I am intentional about portions and sometimes I am not.  I eat clean and according to "fix" portions until dinner and then I enjoy whatever we are having.  We eat dinner with friends most evenings, so I am not always in control of what we eat.  That has to change!! I still have a competition on my list for 2015 and I know that I need months to prepare for it.  I am realistic about the work that I have to do to make this goal a reality this year.  I still intend to do all my prep at my house continuing with Beachbody programs.  I have no doubt in the quality of the programs, but my nutrition has to be on point to get maximum results.  I am sure that the "plan" will be tweaked as my body begins to change and react to certain foods. I will begin with the 3 Day Refresh cleanse to detox from the
